Among our target audience, the primary booking tool is a spreadsheet, either in Excel or in Google Docs for multi-user setups. So, what are our advantages:

  • The main one: online always up-to-date availability calendar
    • This will save a lot of your time, just answering the phone and often having to call back if you are not next your calendar.
    • Improved customer payment practices, if you keep their booking in calendar as “unconfirmed”.
    • It is specialised for booking, not for everything. So you cannot type anyting funny in a date field, as you could in Excel.
    • E-mail reminders of expiring bookings
    • Check out the functionality page and you’ll see that most of it is at least hard to do with a spreadsheet.
  • Compared to a Excel spreadsheet in your computer, the advantages are also: backup, multi-user.

To help you make a balanced decision, here are the shortcomings compared to spreadsheets:

  • You cannot see it if you lose internet connection. Well, you can print the list out or save it to your computer from time to time.
  • You may miss some generic editing functions: formatting, etc.
